For graduates in Rwanda, particularly those with foreign degrees, academic credential verification and equivalence is often slow, opaque, and prone to error. Manual processes can take 6–12 months, delaying employment or study opportunities. Fraudulent degrees are also a growing concern, weakening trust in academic institutions. With 15,000+ local and foreign graduates processed annually, the lack of a streamlined system creates inefficiencies. Similar challenges exist across African countries where regional integration and labor mobility are increasing.

HEC MIS digitizes the entire credential verification process, reducing turnaround time from months to weeks, improving transparency, and protecting against fraud. The platform is already fully deployed in Rwanda, and the roadmap includes integration with regional bodies such as the East African Community (EAC) and African Union (AU), enabling cross-border recognition of qualifications.
